Being a Gold Elite for Marriott Bonvoy means having excellent benefits — (when available) — such as enhanced room upgrades, late checkouts, bonus points during stays, and more. However, for many, getting to this level is not only arduous, it’s incredibly tiring to maintain it, money-wise too.

Thankfully, if you’re an existing American Express Platinum cardholder, achieving Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status is not only complimentary; it’s retainable as long as your platinum card is active. And yes, that also means you do not have to meet or hit any minimum thresholds or stays or anything to keep your Gold membership.

Having that laid out, attaining your Gold membership via the American Express Platinum card requires two steps (as things stand today):

Step-by-Step Instructions for a Successful Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Enrollment — Via the Amex Platinum Card

Step 1: Head Over to “Benefits” After Logging Into Your Amex Account

As shown in the image: After logging into your Amex account > click on the Rewards & Benefits tab/navigation > and then finally, click on “Benefits” to see all of them.

Step 2: Find the “Marriott Bonvoy™ Gold Elite Status” Card/Section Inside Benefits, and Enroll

As simple as it sounds, scroll down to the Marriott Bonvoy section, and enroll for Gold Elite. Note that this is where your Marriott Bonvoy Member ID is needed. This was referenced above.

Step 3: Wait for the Confirmation Email and Verify Gold Elite Status

After you’ve submitted your application for the Gold Elite Status, Amex Systems will automatically work to get you that status. Note that it can take 3-5 business days from experience.

Once everything is sorted out, you will receive a confirmation email from American Express.

Then, you can verify the status in two ways:
